No more fabric!

Cute little Japanese tea/coffee set I picked up at the Oppy this week....too gorgeous!!
My next project a '60's cabinet...on my to do list this week.
Desk chairs recovered, what a mission,  as you can see I ran out of fabric, polka dot seam is not lined up at all...I didnt even have enough fabric left over to make the ties so had to compromise with some pink cotton tape....oh well never mind, they look much better than the before shot lol.
Re: THE NEW DIGS.....the fit out of the containers has been delayed due to floods...no drama really, as the plans are still in council (they were lodged 3 weeks ago!).
Fingers crossed  all the paperwork is sorted  and our new home will be delivered in the first week of March.

Solar

The batteries for our solar system arrived today.  The plan was for the driver to ring us an hour before he arrived so we could get Bob from down the road to bring the 'forklift', but no, the delivery guy rang us from 10 minutes down the road. Mad panic "ring Bob", his wife answered she said she would track him down,. So in comes this massive semi, the driver got out and slid the side panels across, and there all on their lonesome were our two boxes of batteries!! We were the last delivery for the day, he left Melbourne at 6am and by the time he had done the deliveries it was 4pm,(we are 5 hours from Melb)...I dont why anyone should be expected to drive all day. Anyway all was good he was happy, we were happy...........oh oh wheres Bob? These batteries are 140kg each with four in each box, come on Bob!

No need to worry, here he comes, chug chug up the road.  Cracked a can of beer and got stuck into the job. Now as you know I'm a/was city girl I was expecting Bob to drive down in a little truck with a fork lift on the back. Ha Ha dumb me duh!...this is what a forklift looks like in the country?....I thought it was a tractor!. Never mind I will know next time...Good on ya Bob your a legend and thank-you.

Plastic fantastic? Um no!

I couldnt resist these two desk chairs on our trip to the tip shop. Five bux for the pair, yay, so i tried them both out , they do the up and down thing, and the wheels are fine. Said to self 'I can recover that, I've just done the kitchen chairs, this should be easy peasy".  I had the perfect fabric in my stash to cover both of them and I had it all worked out! So I unscrewed the pink one and ...of course the pink fabric is 'welded' to the plastic.....great! not!  But all is not lost will try and sew a cover for all of the backrest and hope the seat comes off easily, and can be done like the kitchen chairs...it doesnt really matter what they look like underneath because I'm the only one who will know ha ha! Wish me luck!

10,9,8..the countdown is on!

All going smoothly with the massive paper trail that comes with building a new home.  The plans have been lodged with the council...hopefully all goes well with that too...and we stay on schedule with the delivery of our house, which should be mid-feb.....in the mean time I've been busy making a few items for the new digs...have decided to go as retro as I can without being too tacky lol I'm planning on aqua and brown colors so this week I recovered the kitchen chairs and finally finished the rag rug.
                                                          before...Ugly!
I bought this piece from the oppy for $1.00 its a piece of thick retro cotton, the job didnt take too long, bit dodgy on the underside....but secure, i used plenty of staples.

I had three attempts at getting the tension of the rag rug right.  First attempt, too tight! I made my self a hat to wear in a rice paddy...lol. 2nd attempt too sloppy....
Almost done, i dont have a picture of it complete (flat batteries)...I used tshirts and track pants, all from my local oppy and all $1.00 each. 15 altogether.....It is the size of a 4 seater round table.  Love It!
Next post fingers crossed will be photos of the arrival of the new house!!!!!
