Oh My!!!

So I was out on the back porch, sweeping, not paying attention, obviously! Finished sweeping, Hippy man came bolting  inside ...and said "snake" "back porch".
with a look of sheer terror!!  Yeh right did he think i was going to run out there, grab a shovel and save us...I dont think so!! So Hippy Man high tailed it out the back, and i went to lock the three dogs in the front porch. By the time out got out the back Hippy man had the shovel and was heading towards "the serpent". I stood frozen until our oldest dog Joffy came bolting over...then all hell broke loose, little joffy was trying to get the snake, which made things worse because, the snake was going ballistic. Ive never seen a snake in the wild let alone one this big Yuk...yes i do love nature and animals but this was way over the top for me!!  I'll just say that Hippy man saved the day, even though he was cacking it, and i never want to see one of them again, it still makes me shudder when I think of it.  Did manage to get a photo of Hippy man with the serpent... it was over 6ft tall!
Foot note to Mother Nature: sorry for taking one of your creatures, but if you didnt make him poisonous he would"ve lived to see another day and that is all.

Progress!!!

                                     Pulling down the chook pens,
a massive task in this heat!!!
Our new house is now starting to feel like a reality....chook pens have been removed and the chickens are now in their new home, which we have just finished building.  This picture is the site where our new home will be, we still have to clear a few trees.  We have paid our deposit, and purchased our off grid solar system....the first draft of the plans is being tweeked.....and our house is due to be delivered mid-february!!! The Hippy Farm is a happy place.

Our new babies

Louie is our latest addition, hes an 8 month old border collie with a beautiful,
placid nature and is very obedient and patient with our 6 week old little pup Fred.

Heres the little mischief maker Fred, attacking a margarine container.
                                         Louie and Fred best buddies.

Spring has Sprung

Spring is in the air at the Hippy Farm, the days are slowly getting longer and the garden is coming back to life Yay. BUT we are still living in the dodgy house, waiting on the insurance company to come to the party, its a long pathetic story!! We are looking at re-building because our policy expired at the end of august and the insurance company will not renew it, BECAUSE some of the house is over 70yrs old(2 1/2 rooms out of 10)  and its in an unrepaired state (our claim has been approved, so what a coincidence, they dont want us anymore!!)...we are in negotiations with them!!! what a joke!!
Hope to have some good news soon, we are looking at our options and i will be posting lot of pics the building progress...when it starts lol...lucky we are both soooo patient.

New Toy

All the vegetables seem to be ripening at the same time, we cant possible eat them all, so as well as giving them away, Ive been lucky enough to find one of these.
Straight from the groovy retro years this dehydrator is big enough to hold the veggies without me having to cut them into tiny pieces.
I had a few dehydrators to choose from, plastic ones that  have tiny little shelves, and start at $100.   She cost me $45 on ebay, I just lurveeee her.

Cherry tomatoes, just picked ready to go in for the first practice run.
Five hours later they were dried, sweet and chewy

Waving not drowning

our front yard looked like a river

we werent going anywhere,we were flooded
in by the silent water that came during the night
Great NOt water up past tje skirting boards.,
In my dumb morning state, I threw towels down, hoping they would soak up the water....Yeh right!
The shiny water carpet in the sewing room
Splash splash to the back door and bathroom
The back porch this is where the water came in from
Not happy!!

The river that we woke up to, at the front of the house...you can see the tiny bit of the road.

You may have heard about the floods in N.S.W, well the hippy farm copped a beaut last monday morning.
The strange thing is we didnt hear the water coming in the house. Hippy man woke at 5.30am and noticed something sparkling on the road.  Ugh is that water? Nope it was a raging river streaming down our street that had come down silently during the night from the flooded main street of our closest town 12 kms away. I raced out towards the kitchen to see what was going on and found myself ankle deep in the water that had come through the house...........while we were sleeping.  Well it sure was an initiation for me, ive never been in a flood before, he went into OMG mode, while i disconnected the power and 'tried' to lift as much as i could out of the affected rooms.  Hippy man was still OMGing outside so i called him in to grab the camera.  TSK TSk Men!!!
Pics coming soon, our connection is soooooooooooo slow!!!

OOps! it been a while lol

I'm now the proud president of the new craft shop, which was opened two weeks before Christmas, its run as a co-op with members from around the district. My lead up to Christmas was hectic, here are a few snaps of the shop the day we opened.  Memberships have increased and we now have shelves and racks full of lovely, handcrafted items.

It was a hectic two weeks and then came christmas day!! I'm not much on Christmas, so the Christmas spirit was a bit "floppy" and the rain came and swept the day away lol

Well actually  we werent grounded by the rain, it came at the end of the day....thats my eco friendly xmas tree, washed out, but still intact.

My grandsons came to stay for two weeks , in the new year, the little city slickers had a ball.  They were determined to light the rubbish in the wood heater, even though it was a stinking hot night....what is it with boys and fire??/
OOps i lost them lol
Im still busy with the painting, another orange room bites the dust!! YAY!!

Mmm the carpets a worry!! But i do have dibs on a friends carpet, when she replaces it...oh the joy of measuring and laying

My next 'target" is painting the bedroom beyond
the door, its Bright Blue, so going to be great fun to cover...NOT!!

Todays Harvest, zucchini, tomatoes, squash caps, and chilli, and a basket of eggs.
and so thats me for now until next time take care and be Happy!!!
